Sales and Leadership Training for the Agricultural Industry

We train the commercial teams of agricultural businesses: animal health, feed and nutrition, agri merchants, agronomy and machinery dealers. Sales training built around how farmers buy, leadership for agri managers, health and safety for farms, mills and depots, and The Way We Work to bring every site together. Virtual, e-learning or face-to-face, anywhere in the UK.

The Short Answers

Why doesn’t standard sales training work in agriculture?

Because farmers don’t buy like everyone else. Farms pass down through families, decisions take time and trust takes years to build but can be lost in one bad visit. Generic sales techniques built for offices fall flat at the farm gate.

Do you understand our products?

Your team already knows the specs. We teach them how to sell, lead and manage. We’ve spent years in animal health and agricultural supply, so we know the farming world, including why a visit in January is different from a visit in August.

Who do you train?

Commercial teams across the agricultural supply chain: field sales and technical sales staff, account managers, sales managers and business leaders in animal health, feed and nutrition, agri merchants, agronomy and machinery dealers.

How much does agricultural sales training cost?

Every programme is shaped around your team, your products and your customers, so we don’t publish a set price. Tell us about your team, how many sites and what you want to change, and we’ll come back within one working day with a clear proposal.

Why Standard Sales Training Fails in Agriculture

Your team knows the products. What they need is to know the people: how to communicate with farmers who are busy, smart and don’t want to be sold to.

And a workshop in a hotel room won’t change what happens at the farm gate on a Tuesday morning. Training has to reflect the real conversations, seasons and pressures of farming.

What makes ag different:

  • Long sales cycles and family decisions
  • Trust built over years, lost in a visit
  • Seasonal timing that changes every conversation
  • Technical buyers who know their business inside out

Sales Training Built Around How Farmers Buy

Commercial teams that farmers trust and buy from.

Asking Better Questions

Discovery that uncovers what the farm actually needs, not what you want to sell.

Building Trust

Earning the right to advise, visit after visit, across generations.

Closing Without Pushing

Moving decisions forward without damaging the relationship.

Handling Objections

Price, loyalty to the old supplier, “we’ve always done it this way”.

Leadership and Management

Teaching managers to lead, manage and coach their teams effectively.

E-Learning

Online courses your team can use any time to keep improving.

Leadership and Management for Ag Businesses

Many agri managers were promoted because they were great in the field. We help them become great managers too: one-to-ones, coaching their teams, handling performance and planning around the farming year. See our management training for the full list of skills.

For your wider team, our sales training and online courses cover the essentials.

Health and Safety for Farms, Mills and Depots

HSE counts agriculture among the most dangerous industries in Great Britain, so safety training matters as much as sales. We run IOSH Managing Safely for managers and supervisors and IOSH Working Safely for everyone else, live on Microsoft Teams or at your site.

For the topics farm and mill teams meet every day, our online courses cover COSHH for chemicals and veterinary medicines, manual handling including animate (livestock) handling, and risk assessment. Staff start them straight away and get a certificate on completion.

The Way We Work: One Team Across Every Site

Agri businesses often run mills, depots, customer service and field sales teams that rarely meet. The Way We Work is our flagship training: an energetic, interactive experience, run as a conference or site by site, that helps teams understand each other’s roles and pressures, breaks down silos and builds communication, teamwork and behavioural safety.

You can brand it as your own, for example “One Team”, and run it after a merger, a takeover or a rebrand to bring everyone in the same direction.

Three Ways to Train Your Agri Team

Virtual: live, trainer-led sessions on Microsoft Teams, ideal for field teams spread across the country. E-learning: self-paced online courses your people fit around the farming year. Face-to-face: on your farm, at your mill or at your offices, anywhere in the UK.

Most agri clients mix all three. Tell us about your team and we’ll suggest the right blend.

How It Works

The same four steps for every programme, whether it’s one workshop or a year-long plan.

  1. Discovery

We talk to you and, where it helps, to your people, so we understand the real challenges before we design anything.

  2. Design

We build the sessions around what people need to do differently, using examples and scenarios from your world.

  3. Delivery

Virtual on Microsoft Teams, e-learning or face-to-face: energetic, practical sessions with plenty of practice, not a day of slides.

  4. Follow-Up

Structured follow-ups at 30, 60 and 90 days check the new habits are sticking, and that results are moving.

“The first time I met Zita was at my Induction training, and boy was I impressed! She delivers her training courses with so much enthusiasm and vigour and has an excellent depth of knowledge of so many subjects, you can’t fail to enjoy the day and remain engaged throughout. Course content is always adapted to suit the audience. Timekeeping is superb and Zita has a real talent for reading the room and reaching out to those delegates who may be a little shy or need some encouragement to join in.”

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

“I was tired of seeing ag businesses waste money on trainers who had never set foot on a farm. The agricultural industry is different. You need to know what you’re talking about and actually understand their world.”

CLARITY

Agricultural Sales Training: Common Questions

Can you train our team on farm or at our depot?

Yes. We come to your premises anywhere in the UK and can build sessions around real customer situations from your patch.

Do you work with animal health companies?

Yes. Animal health, feed and nutrition are where much of our agricultural work has been, with clients such as ForFarmers, H&H, Fevara (formerly Carr’s Group), Carrs Billington, Horslyx and Animax.

Can you train new starters in the field team?

Yes. New field staff benefit most from learning how to build trust and ask good questions early, before habits form. We combine live sessions with e-learning for the basics.

Do you also run health and safety training for farms and agri businesses?

Yes. We’re an IOSH Approved Training Provider and run health and safety training, from IOSH courses to COSHH and manual handling.
