What is a training matrix?

A training matrix is a grid of your people (or roles) against the training each one needs, with dates completed and when it is due again. It shows at a glance who is trained, who is overdue and where the gaps are, which is exactly what auditors, insurers and inspectors ask to see.

Is this training matrix builder free?

Yes. Answer a few questions, tell us where to send it and you get a bespoke training plan and matrix to download as a PDF, plus an editable Excel tracker. There is no obligation to buy anything.

How does it decide what each role needs?

It uses your sector, roles, headcounts, activities and goals, and recommends only courses we can deliver: IOSH courses, live training, e-learning and our flagship training. Legal essentials such as manual handling, COSHH and fire safety come first. It is a strong starting point, not legal advice: your risk assessments decide what each role needs.

What health and safety training is mandatory for employees?

There is no single list for every employee. Employers must give each person the information, instruction and training they need to work safely, based on the risks of their job (Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974). See our guide to health and safety training.
